Like the Ref's Helmet Cam.... ditch it.

It is not being used for the purpose it was designed for.

It's just another time out or worse, a petty coach will employ it just to mess with the flow of the game or show up an official.

I think they should ditch the challenge, and Toronto should just review every goal for possible goalie interference - the same thing they do now, but for kicked in goals etc. Then if there is possible interference they let the refs know, who review it on a big screen. Take out the coaches challenge part. It shouldn't matter if the coach decides to challenge or not. The NHL should be trying to get every goal/no-goal call right.

I agree with what you have said here with one exception, there needs to be a risk to the challenge, otherwise you pull it out 3 maybe 4 times a game, slow momentum, you are up 3 other team scores, challenge, no overturn, they score again, challenge, talk to your players during review, free timeouts, slow game down etc. Add one time out per team (no more then that) but you can only use one time out in the final 5 minutes of a game, or this will start to look like basketball, with 20 minutes of timeouts and reviews a game.

Ditch it, it totally sucks and is kind of joke. Some of those hairline offside negating goals 30 - 45 seconds later is ridiculous. More concerned with goalie interference and if the nhl reviews every goal they should pick up on that.
